I wanted to show a general picture of the changes in approach and tone that superhero movies have made over the last 80 years, showing that this type of film has evolved with the times, technology, and storytelling sensibilities. I hoped to make an easy-to-follow timeline that even those unfamiliar or new to watching superhero media could follow. I think knowing how the genre has changed and adapted is important, as it gives context for why and how these movies are made in differing times and why different decades focus on different aspects of these comic book superheroes and focus on different kinds of stories to feature them.
